Assistant Retail Manager
Isis Maternity is seeking an energetic retail management professional looking for a unique retail and education-based business.
In this full time role, the Assistant Retail Manager works closely with the Center Manager on day-to-day retail operations. He or she will lead specific projects and tasks, and will have decision making abilities in a number of important areas. S/he will drive the retail area of the center.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide top notch service to our clients; make the client experience positive and memorable
- Ensure the integrity of in-store inventory through communications with the retail team, cycle counts, shrink prevention, intra-center transfers
- Continually monitor, update and improve retail operations working closely with Center Manager
- Design and implement merchandise display and floor plans while maintaining a child-safe, organized, clean retail floor
- Suggest and implement improvements and upgrades to retail floor design
- Manage the center staffing schedule and staffing changes
- Assure complete schedule coverage, taking on some staffing shifts throughout the week as needed
- Actively participate in interviewing and evaluating prospective center staff candidates
- Manage and foster the training and professional development of new retail employees
- Assist clients in all aspects of the business
- Develop client relationships, resolve client requests and complaints, escalating to Center Manager as necessary
- Maintain a thorough understanding of all current class and service offerings
- Handle discrete areas of the budget such as center expenses, store fixtures
- Collaborate with Center Manager on operational strategies and new initiatives and keeping the staff well informed and updated on all retail, center and company related business
- Create and foster a positive work environment with open communication and free exchange of ideas
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- The ability to excel in a team-focused environment
- Proven passion for retail design a plus
- Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office; comfortable learning new software/database programs.
- Familiarity with Retail Star a plus
- Eye for detail and organization, and follow-through abilities
Credentials and Experience:
- BA/BS degree or equivalent experience
- Two years prior experience in a retail environment required
- Experience in an entrepreneurial environment a plus
Special Requirements:
- Must be able to occasionally move heavy furniture, such as displays (lift, push or carry 20-30lbs)
